First Line K9 of Alaska, a private company, works confidentially with parents, business owners, management and school administration. In the event of an alert, the First Line Narcotics K9 Handler will notify you of the suspected location of the drug / narcotic. The K9 Handler will not physically search, come in contact, or dispose of any substance. The results of a search will remain confidential. In Horton vs. Goose Creek Independent School District, the 5th Circuit of the United States Court of Appeals has found that using drug dogs in schools to sniff the students’ cars and lockers is permissible and does not constitute a search within the meaning of the Fourth Amendment. Furthermore, regarding the Fourteenth Amendment, which protects against the deprivation of liberty without due process of law, the Court maintained the harassment of using a detection dog was not adequate to produce a violation of due process.
Our handlers all hold a National Certification through American Working Dog, and certify every year to ensure our dogs are performing to the best of their ability. We utilize the most recent methods in our drug dog training. Very few private drug inspection K9 services offer the national certification and the experience of our handlers and instructors.

All students deserve a safe and drug-free environment that is conducive to learning. The use of drugs by students greatly increases the probability of crime in schools and lowers overall student performance. The impact of drugs in schools does not stop with the students. Teachers and school administrators must also work in this volatile environment, often without the tools necessary to address the problems caused by the presence of drugs.
In order to protect students and educators from drugs and the negative impact created by the presence of drugs, it is critical to have an effective and economical method of detecting drugs in school and on the school grounds. Detection dogs (aka sniffer dogs) can be valuable assets and the least intrusive way of detecting illegal substances in a school environment. The presence of a drug dogs in schools, as well as the knowledge that a detection dog is used regularly on school grounds, is often enough to deter the possession, trafficking, and use of drugs by students, teachers, and administrators.
